The relevant authorities in Europe have revealed that there has been a significant increase in demand in the travel and tourism sector on the continent.

This surge has been attributed to the upcoming trek of the Eras Tour of American performer and singer, Taylor Swift.

Amadeus data

As per the flight search data provided by Amadeus, people from across the globe have been searching for trips to Paris, France.

The number of international searches has thus, gone up by 21%, for the dates that correspond with the performances of the singer in 2024.

The same rising pattern has also been noticed in various other countries where the singer has previously performed and will be holding shows in the near future.

These locations include Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Ireland, Belgium, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands, and the USA.

Where the searches are concerned, the most popular ones were of trips of seven or more days to Madrid, Spain.

The flight search volumes for round trips to Madrid have shown a significant increase of 23% as compared to usual ones.

Meanwhile, domestic travelers from Spain have also shown interest in trips during these days but for shorter periods of times.

Consequently, this figure showed a surge of 18% in the dates corresponding with Taylor Swift’s concerts.

eDreams

In line with this data, eDreams has confirmed that the demand for airline tickets going to Stockholm on the 17th and 19th of May has risen.

These two dates correspond with the scheduled performances of the American musician and has shown a surge of six times, as compared to the same period in the previous year.

Similarly, the demand for flights taking passengers to Paris, Liverpool, Edinburgh, and Warsaw during the days of scheduled concerts of the Eras Tour has gone up by 108%, 133%, 176%, and 339% respectively.

The travel firm, which is based in Barcelona, further highlighted the increase in transatlantic demand.

It further added that there has been significant interest from American fans of the performer, who are willing to travel to a different continent to see the idol’s performances.

Along with the top five cities mentioned above, there has been a notable hike in travel demand for Lyon, Zurich, Milan, Amsterdam, Madrid, and Vienna.

All of these cities have already announced the dates of the musician’s scheduled performances and live shows.

Trends

Travel Trends 2024, released by Amadeus, also indicated that a new trend has been noticed amongst visitors.

This is a rising demand for airline tickets around the time of festival and concerts in various countries across the continent.

On this note, Amadeus delegated a new research project to YouGov in four European markets, which revealed that 49% of Spaniards have taken to travel for a festival or concert before.

Consequently, it was revealed that these travelers have also spent at least a single night away from home.

This trend holds true for 48% of Brits, 34% of French visitors, and 44% of the Germans traveling for concerts and festivals.
