A recent survey revealed that Kosovar respondents are looking forward to attending the UEFA European Championship.
Consequently, the survey results indicated that this was the most popular reason for travel among the respondents from Kosovo.
The survey was conducted among more than 3,000 residents of the country, who have expressed excitement for sports events.
UEFA
One of the emerging reasons for Kosovars being thrilled about visa-free travel is because of the upcoming event in Germany in the month of June.
In addition to being excited about UEFA Euro 2024, Kosovars have said that they hope to attend the various music concerts being held in different cities in Germany.
Moreover, they added that music festivals have been one of the primary attractions of the EU states, which they can now attend with ease.
The survey further revealed that the citizens of Kosovo named Germany to be one of their primary destinations for travel.
Around 28.3% of the overall respondents stated that this country is their top choice and first stop among the rest of the countries in the EU.
Where their trips to the EU are concerned, 67.3% of Kosovar respondents stated that they are looking forward to exploring beaches, parks, and outdoor activities.
Meanwhile 59.6% said that they want to explore the rich culture and history of the countries they visit and take tours of museums.
The survey additionally revealed that 40.8% of the respondents from Kosovo are excited to visit EU countries for culinary heritage, while 39.2% are hoping to do some shopping.
Accommodation
The survey additionally touched upon the preferred places for respondents to live and 49.2% said that they tend to book hotels for their stays.
Meanwhile, 47.1% make plans to live with their loved ones and families, throughout the duration of their stay. Another 3.7% stated that they prefer living with their friends.
In terms of travel expenses, the Kosovars are expected to spend a significantly higher amount this year.
The majority of the respondents, specifically 67.3%, stated that they would be spending more than they usually do on travel.
In comparison, more than 21% of respondents revealed that they have no idea if they will be spending more on travel.
On the other hand, 11.4% were determined not to spend more than they usually did before the liberalization of visas.
In addition, the majority of respondents, particularly 42%, stated that they have not yet started planning for their trips to Europe.
In contrast, 18% revealed that they have been saving for the last three months to make travel plans for the current year.
Travel
Where the means of transportation is concerned, 2,280 respondents stated that they would be using airlines to travel to the various countries in Europe.
However, 410 people will be using their cars, 280 will be taking the bus, and 80 people will be traveling by train.
In addition, tourism has become the primary reason for traveling, with 1,780 respondents saying that they tend to plan trips as a vacation.
910 people travel to visit their family, while 150 people disclosed that they plan trips to Europe for business purposes.
