The authorities in Finland have revealed that the country is gaining popularity and has managed to climb up various positions on the Anholt-Ipsos Nation Brands Index.
Where it previously occupied the 18th position, the country now sits on the 15th and has strengthened its image as an attractive residential and tourist destination across Europe.
The ranking of Finland for 2023 is a place higher than the previous year. This is indicative of how committed the country is to becoming one of the top destinations in the EU for travelers.
Consequently, it has garnered recognition across six crucial categories, including the travel and tourism sector.
In addition, the country has stipulated its name in a number of other categories, such as culture, people, immigration, investments, exports, and administration.
Ministry of foreign affairs
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, Finland is held in high regard for its commitment to environmental protection and equality.
Moreover, Finland has managed to secure a spot for itself among the top ten countries for fair treatment of peace, citizens, security, honesty, competence, administration, quality of life, as well as combatting world poverty.
On this note, the Chairman of the Finland Promotion Board and Director of Communications at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mikko Koibumaa, emphasized the good image of the country.
She went on to add that in order to boost the popularity of Finland, it is necessary for it to be known for the right things.
In her words, the age of technology comes with its pros and cons. Thus, a strong image of the country could help create opportunities for the people of Finland and give them security.
Finland
The Ministry went on to reveal that the primary strength of Finland has historically been its exceptional governance.
Consequently, the country has often ranked in the top 10, securing the sixth position among a total of 60 nations.
However, the measurement in the current year has brought about a shift, and Finland’s position has gone down by two places.
As a result, the overall ranking in governance has been set back in comparison to the previous year.
Culture
Where Finland’s culture-related image is concerned, the authorities went on to point out that this is the biggest weakness of the country.
In terms of cultural perceptions, Finland takes the 26th spot. Meanwhile, the Finnish cultural heritage and historical buildings secure the 29th and 26th spots, respectively.
Even so, the nation has seen significant developments in its image with respect to urban and contemporary culture. Moreover, it has been faring well in sports as well.
Data from a survey taken further indicated that Germany and Sweden are especially fond of Finland. Consequently, they offer the most positive views.
On the other hand, South Africa and Saudi Arabia have different images, which is why they rate Finland lower as compared to various other nations.
As per the survey, interviews were conducted with around 60,000 people living in around 20 countries.
According to the votes, the Nordic nations trail closely with each other in the study, with Sweden taking the tenth spot.
