Ryanair and Kiwi, an online travel agency, recently went up against each other in court, with the former emerging victorious as per the final rulings made by the judge.

As a result of the decision made by the court, the low-cost airline will be able to retain and maintain its routine security procedures at check-in for all passengers making bookings via Online Travel Agencies (OTA).

According to Ryanair, its victory in the Commercial Court of Madrid in Spain ensures that the airline will continue to provide the services that it has promised to its customers.

Part of this service is a thorough security check-in procedure, which will be carried out even for those passengers who make bookings using OTA.

Partnership

In the words of the budget airline, it decided to partner up with a competent online travel agency, such as Kiwi, to aid in the booking process.

Consequently, this does not mean that the carrier will not verify the identity of the passenger or adhere to the proper protocols for flights.

However, in lieu of the recent events, the Director of Marketing and Digital Department of Ryanair, Dara Brady, believes that it will no longer benefit from having a commercial relationship with the OTA that it went up against it court.

Moreover, the budget airline went on to admit that it will now be strongly objecting to Kiwi selling any tickets for Ryanair flights.

In the words of the Director, this court ruling is welcoming news for the airline and its passengers, as it entails that they will be allowed to undergo security check-in procedures.

Consequently, the carrier will be able to maintain the quality of its safety checks and carry out the necessary public health and security protocols for all passengers on its flights.

Another legal victory

The low-cost airline also emerged victorious in another legal victory that it fought in the Civil Court of Milan. This, too, was against Kiwi.

On the occasion, the OTA protested that it believes that the screenings at the airport are invasive and accused the airline of charging higher costs.

Kiwi believed that by taking the matter to court, it could convince the judge to roll back on the security screening that the airline carries out.

Previous victory

In the previous year, Ryanair secured another victory against Lastminute.fr.Brandy, while it stressed the importance of its direct-to-customer distribution model.

According to the relevant authorities of the airline, this model aids operations and gives passengers the best choice, care, and lowest fares.

Meanwhile, Ryanair is able to make sure that health, safety, and security protocols are complied with at all costs.

The carrier released a statement after its victory from Lastminute.fr.Brandy, in which it said that it would continue to follow through on its campaign against screen scrapers.

As a result, it aims to ensure that no business model can run by inflating the fares of the flights being operated by Ryanair and levying hidden markups for unsuspecting consumers.

Currently, the budget airline connects over 240 destinations located in more than 40 countries and is known for offering the cheapest fares in all of Europe.
