Airfares in August soared after the one-way ticket price between Spain and UK went up to £780.

As of now, a three-hour long flight, departing from Malaga and arriving in London costs over a trip to Australia.

The hike comes soon after the number of flights returning to the UK from Spain in the upcoming two weeks has increased.

Consequently, airfares have thus shot up to unprecedented levels. As the summer holidays come to an end, airfares from Spain to the UK have been readily rising.

On the 31st of August, the cheapest flight from Malaga to London is going to cost passengers around £611, given that they are only carrying hand baggage.

The price varies as per different airlines, but not by much. Currently, Finnair, which is operated by British Airways is selling tickets for £783 for economy class. This includes a checked bag of 23 kg as well.

As per the airlines, they are offering a different range of fares to the passengers who are traveling home after the summer holiday.

It further added that it aims to offer greater choices and value to its customers and advised that they book in advance to avoid additional hikes in the cost.

The spokesperson for the airline also explained that same as with other airlines, its prices fluctuate due to varying levels of demand.

Consequently, seats with lower fares tend to get taken up first by the masses, as opposed to the pricier ones.

The other airlines

Various budget airlines have taken to increasing their prices as well, seeing the rising demand. EasyJet’s airfares from Malaga to Luton peaked at £440 on the 3rd of September, with minimal baggage.

Meanwhile, Etihad is charging 1/5th of this price from people traveling from Malaga to Bangkok, whose distance is six times more than Luton.

For the same flight from Malaga to Luton, the same flight costs half the fare.

According to a spokesperson for the airline, airfares could go even higher for people traveling from Spain to London.

Moreover, they revealed that seats at lower costs are selling out at a quicker rate, which indicates that people are trying to avoid a further increase in airfares.

Meanwhile, Ryanair is also participating in capitalizing on its revenue and profits due to rising demand.

For the 27th of August, the airline has revealed that it has only two seats left from Alicante to Manchester, which will cost around £265.

A flight of the same airline for the same day is going to be charging £365 from passengers.

The rise in airfares

Due to the unprecedented demand pushing up the airfares, people are wondering what this means.

No one could have predicted that flights from Malaga to London would cost more than it takes to travel from London to Australia.

But due to the high cost of traveling, the long and short-haul prices have somehow reached similar levels, as people are willing to pay whatever it takes to reach their destination.
