According to the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, between April and December 2023, the Passport Point at Warsaw Chopin Airport issued a total of 10,874 temporary passports.

It was during the holiday period that the highest number of passports were issued, with July and August seeing 1,894 and 1,846 documents, respectively.

The documents

In addition, more than 100 documents were issued by the Passport Point every day for three days in a row after the holidays.

The highest number of passports issued were recorded on August 14th, 2023, as they rose to a record 125 temporary passports.

Temporary passports are usually granted to travelers in situations where they forget or lose their ID card or passport, or it is stolen.

In such situations, travelers can go to the Passport Point, which is located at the Warsaw Chopin Airport, and get a temporary one issued.

However, when submitting an application, the individuals have to present a valid airline ticket. The identity of the individuals is then checked by the on-site personnel at the Passport Point.

They also take a photograph, which is required for issuing the document. If the temporary passport is for a child, then both the parents have to give their consent.

PLN 30 is the cost of obtaining a temporary passport, which is around seven euros. The Passport Document Register has been operating since 2022.

The Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration revealed that they can electronically generate an application for a temporary passport via the Passport Document Register and then signed.

Special occasions

According to the Ministry, thanks to the services that are offered at the Passport Point, they had been able to facilitate various individuals successfully during their special occasions.

These included an individual being able to travel for defending their doctoral thesis and parents getting a journey as a birthday present.

The Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration also revealed that temporary passports had also been given to a couple leaving for their honeymoon and to parents who wanted to attend their daughter’s wedding.

The Ministry further said that services are provided at the passport point from Monday to Friday, which is located at the Warsaw Airport within the Terminal A public area.

The timings are 08:00 to 20:00 and an Info Kiosk is also available for people looking for information about temporary passports.

Polish passport

As per the latest data, the Polish passport is ranked as the 20th most powerful passport all over the globe.

This means that people who hold a Polish passport can travel to 101 countries without a visa and can travel to 43 countries without a passport.

But, there are 20 countries where they need to obtain a traditional visa, 30 countries where they can get a visa on arrival and 22 countries where they can get an e-visa.
