Poland has recently revealed that it has various infrastructure plans in the works for the upcoming year.
This also includes the establishment of a new high-speed rail line to link together some of its most popular cities.
In line with this announcement, the government and its relevant authorities have decided on a budget of €37 million for the entire project.
Construction
As per the relevant authorities, the construction of this new project is likely to expand over 140 kilometers of track and include a tunnel that is four kilometers long.
As part of the ambitious scheme, the government also plans on building a mega-airport.
Consequently, the location of the airport will be finalized somewhere between Warsaw, the capital, and the city of Lodz.
The newly built airport is going to be strategically located in the area to function much like a central transit hub.
On this note, the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, talked about the project with pride.
In his words, this is going to be one of the most important plans that the country will be carrying out in the current century.
Rail line
Where the new 140-kilometer rail route is concerned, it will be a high speed one and link some of the most attractive cities of the country.
Consequently, the line will be used to travel between Warsaw and the popular cities of Wroclaw and Lodz.
The latter is a former hub for the manufacturing of textiles and is now home to the Manufaktura Arts and Culture Center, which is located inside a restored factory.
It also houses the Central Museum of Textiles, which has been a popular attraction for artistic tourists everywhere.
Meanwhile, Wroclaw allows visitors to wander its streets, which are littered with pastel-colored townhouses.
Moreover, they have the freedom to explore various other spots as well, such as the spikey gothic town hall.
The city was once the capital of culture of Europe in 2016 and is regularly voted as one of the most habitable places across the globe.
Airport
The rail route project has been taken up by relevant authorities and included in the Solidarity Transport Hub (CPK) project.
This is a substantially large project that will also include the construction of a strategically placed airport between Lodz and Warsaw.
Consequently, the Polish government has made plans to turn the transport hub into one of the largest on the continent.
Despite the enthusiasm of the government authorities to move ahead with this plan, it has received some criticism.
Michal O’Leary, the CEO of Ryanair, was one of the first to share that this project was nothing short of incomprehensible.
In his words, he could not understand this new investment that the government was thinking of making, even before the pandemic.
According to him, the relevant authorities have already spent billions of taxpayers’ money on this project and have an option to not proceed with it further.
He added that the construction of a new airport is unnecessary, and the location chosen is also going to be quite ineffective.
