Several TV series, such as Emily in Paris, have become the reason why a larger number of travelers have been hoping to visit the destination in the last couple of years.

This particular show portrays the capital of France in a realistic and romantic light to attract viewers and is also having a significant impact on the travel and tourism sector in the country.

Survey

As per a recent survey conducted by the National Center for Cinema and Animated Image in France, 80% of respondents revealed that they recently developed an interest in visiting the country.

According to the participants, this interest was developed after they watched TV shows and movies that have been filmed at various locations there.

The survey, which included a total of 500 foreign respondents, further revealed that this figure was 74% higher compared to the one recorded in 2018.

A large number of the respondents questioned as part of the survey were Chinese, American, Spanish, British, Belgian, and German.

All of them had planned to take a vacation in France and its various cities for at least a week in the near future.

Meanwhile, a discussion on their spending habits revealed that respondents usually spend more than €1,700 on average when they take trips to France.

TV shows

The survey has provided additional insights into the reason for high tourism, with ten tourists saying that they traveled to the country soon after they watched a TV show or movie.

Lupin, which is a thrilling mystery TV show, was named to be the top reason for visiting France for a vast majority of the respondents.

This figure stood at exactly 50%, which is higher than the 44% of participants who said that they were motivated by Emily In Paris, the rom-com, to visit the country, specifically Paris.

On the other hand, 56% of the super fans of Lupin were men who made the trip to France, with 61% of the respondents being female super fans of Emily In Paris.

Meanwhile, 59% of the people who answered the questions of the survey were aged between 18 and 34.

It is no secret that popular TV shows, such as those mentioned above, have boosted the country’s travel and tourism sector. Moreover, they have had a significant impact on a wide range of other destinations.

Other locations

Sicily has managed to garner the attention of numerous visitors and recorded a surge in its travel and tourism sector.

The increase in demand is being attributed to the island serving as a filming location for the recently released season of White Lotus.

In line with this, Kensington Tours is hoping to add Game Of Thrones detours in Iceland due to the rising client interest.

The vice president of product, Kelly Torrens, has also mentioned that there is a possibility of creating detours with various names that would be inspired by characters of Game of Thrones and several other movies.

It was further revealed that this particular project of detours is likely to take off in the month of May 2024.
