Schiphol Airport has made several preparations as it is expecting an inflow of a significant number of passengers during the upcoming autumn holiday.
The holiday season, which is going to take off in the last two weeks of October, expects an impressive number of visitors from abroad, specifically 3.3 million.
This figure has been reported to be a 25% increase from the tally of passengers recorded in the corresponding period in 2022.
On the busier days of the autumn holiday, the airport authorities are prepared to welcome more than 70,000 visitors passing through its terminals.
These visitors will include not only people departing from the facilities but people entering as well, which will highlight the flow of travel during the season.
Destinations
As of now, a higher volume of passengers are departing from Schiphol to a number of destinations.
Some of the most popular locations include Barcelona, London, Madrid, and Dublin. Since these are preferred autumn holiday destinations for travelers, a significant number of people tend to fly out to them during the season.
The authorities have taken to predict that a significant number of passengers will be traveling to these and other locations in October via the Schiphol Airport.
In October of last year, the airport had hosted the highest-ever traveler count, with no less than 63.1 thousand flights taking 4,912,421 passengers, moving to and from Schiphol Airport.
Progress
The Schiphol Airport has experienced a fair number of challenges over time. Thus, an expected rise in the number of passengers has presented itself as good news.
On the occasion, the Head of Cargo of the airport, Joost Van Doesburg, expressed pride at the fact that Schiphol Airport has impressive figures as compared to the rest of the airports located throughout Europe.
He lauded the relevant authorities for ensuring that the airport was successfully able to make it through a number of global challenges.
The data present on the Schiphol Airport’s website further shows a consistent upward-moving trend in the number of passengers.
In July of 2023, the terminals welcomed no less than 6,009,315 passengers, which stood at 16.02% more than the corresponding period in the previous year.
Meanwhile, in June 2023, the airport recorded 5,664,120 travelers, which was a surge of 8.25%, in comparison to the same month in 2022.
Consequently, 5,599,870 passengers took flights to and from Schiphol Airport, a 7.24% spike compared to May of 2022.
These figures are indicative of the airport making a strong recovery and rising traveler interest in the terminals of the airport.
Flight counts
The website of the Schiphol Airport further disclosed data related to monthly flight statistics annually, highlighting the specific months where the number of flights was the highest.
As a result, July recorded more than 42,000 flights, which was followed closely by August, which recorded a total of 42,700 flights.
In the previous month, Schiphol Airport welcomed a sum of 41,766 flights.
The authorities believe that the airport is believed to be convenient by travelers, due to its connection to 97 countries, with 332 direct destination flights, employing 104 airlines.
