Two terminals at the Dublin Airport reported a total number of 2.9 million passengers who took flights to and from the location in the month of September of the current year.

This figure marked an increase of 11% as compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

The Dublin Air Authority (DAA) took to revealing that on the 24th of September, the airport experienced the highest travel activity.

It also reported that a significant number of passengers were using the airport after returning home from France, on account of the rugby championship.

Destinations

Where the most-visited destinations are concerned, London Heathrow was at the top in the month of September.

This did not come as a surprise, given that the route between Dublin and London Heathrow is one of the most frequented in all of Europe.

The DAA further revealed that due to the high influx of passengers enjoyed by the Dublin Airport in September, the total tally of visitors in the summer season rose to over 12 million in the months of June to September.

Passenger data

The airport took to reporting data related to the passengers recorded over the summer months and compared it to the same period in 2022.

In June of the current year, the airport welcomed no less than 3,218,315 passengers, which marked a substantial rise as compared to the same month of the previous year. Back then, 2,822,524 passengers had travelled through the airport.

Meanwhile, in July 2023, Dublin Airport accommodated a total of 3,425,253 passengers, thus showcasing an increase of 12.81% in comparison to the corresponding period.

In the same month of 2022, the total passengers that passed through the gates of the airport were 3,036,257.

Lastly, in the month of August of the current year, the airport authorities served 3,419,986 passengers.

This reflected a substantial increase of 12.31%, as compared to August of the previous year, when the total number of passengers recorded was 3,045,133.

These numbers indicated that the Dublin Airport has experienced a consistent trend in demand and growth.

Dublin Airport

In the summer months, the airport reported that its primary objective was to boost the efficiency of its processes and ensure that passenger security processing was as streamlined as possible.

In a statement released by the relevant authorities, it was revealed that the airport had set a target of ensuring that 90% of the passengers departed the Dublin Airport’s security in less than 20 minutes with complete safety.

Consequently, the security team was able to not only achieve that goal, but surpass it.

The Dublin Airport reported that 98% of the total 12 million passengers who had travelled through its terminals, received security clearance in either 20 minutes or less.

It comes as no surprise that the Dublin Airport welcomed a large number of passengers in the summer months, as Ireland has become a favorite destination for many.

This was further supported by a report earlier, which revealed that the capital city was granted the World’s Best Weekend Destination award for 2023.
