The Brandenburg Airport (BER) in Berlin is on its way to becoming a pioneer among all German airports in terms of implementing AI.

This was determined shortly after the airport announced that it was going to be using an AI-driven software solution as a way to streamline the handling process.

The implementation of AI is a strategic move that underscores the ongoing dedication of the airport to make investments in modern technologies.

Consequently, it hopes to ultimately elevate the punctuality, service quality, as well as efficiency levels.

Digital products

It was revealed by the airport that its most recent digital products were implemented in the first place in order to help with terminal operations.

As of now, the focus has shifted, and the authorities are now more focused on the 49 apron positions in the BER that are adjacent to the terminal.

The Berlin airport has joined hands with Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH and Assaia in order to implement a comprehensive system called the TurnaroundControl digital solution.

This new innovative solution will allow the airport to enable the assessment of platform handling processes.

It will use self-learning software and offer actionable recommendations for improvements regarding different processes.

Optimization

In the world of the Chief Operations Officer of the Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, Thomas Hoff Anderson, the aim of this strategic move is to optimize workflows related to the aircraft.

He added that by automating the said process, the airport could increase stability in flight schedules and ensure punctuality in all processes.

According to the COO, the product will be released gradually over the course of the next couple of months.

Consequently, Anderson hopes that the automation will improve the infrastructure of the airport and allow it to contribute to a good travel experience.

He further added that the airport is also looking to come up with new ways that they can automate with the help of AI and further increase the stability of the network.

Discussing the machine learning capabilities of the software, the COO is anticipating valuable insights to help drive additional achievements in airport operation processes.

Assaia

Meanwhile, the CEO of Assaia, Max Diez, has expressed gratitude to be able to collaborate with the Brandenburg Airport in Berlin and be a part of its mission to offer the best possible experience to passengers.

He went on to say that the company’s technology will help the BER achieve its goals of greater safety and efficiency.

As a result, the airport authorities will be able to allow a greater number of check-ins at each gate and higher punctuality.

Talking about the TurnaroundControl software, the CEO disclosed that it aids in the improvement of airport operations by offering real-time transparency into various processes.

Diez further divulged that the company had positioned cameras at various platform locations and implemented AI-based software to give recommendations to optimize treatment procedures.

Moreover, Brandenburg Airport had previously introduced a new digital service that would offer biometric access control to passengers.
