An analysis of aviation data from the past two years has revealed that flight prices have grown by an average of around 31% across the globe.

The study was conducted by Mabrian, which showed that the ticket prices offered by legacy airlines also went up by 40%.

On the other hand, low-cost airlines recorded only a modest rise in prices, which stood at 6%.

Report details

According to the data collected by Mabrian, it concluded a number of the most expensive destinations for air travel up until the 23rd of June.

This included a total of five locations, namely Sudan, Panama, Jordan, Mali, and Qatar.

Where the cheapest destinations for air travel are concerned, Nepal, Bolivia, Malaysia, Colombia, and Slovakia made the cut.

The authority went on to explain that the highest increase in average prices has been experienced in countries located in different areas of Southern Europe, Northern Europe, Asia, and Mediterranean regions.

In the Middle East, Aqatar has shown a rise in rates on account of the upcoming soccer World Cup.

However, the region, as a whole, has only experienced a mild increase in prices in comparison to the other locations across the globe.

Expensive air travel locations

As of now, the most expensive country in terms of air travel is Netherlands, followed by the United Kingdom.

The latter has raised its prices the most in the current year, in comparison to 2021.

On the other hand, France and Germany have remained consistent with their high prices, which peaked in 2022.

According to data published by Mabrian, Norway has remained the most stable out of all these countries in the last 24 months.

Passenger traffic

Irrespective of the rising prices worldwide, data revealed by Airports Council International (ACI) in Europe, indicates that passenger traffic is readily on the rise.

It reported that in the summer months alone, especially July, the numbers of passenger traffic have come quite closer to a complete recovery.

In fact, numbers for the current year are only 3% less than those recorded before the pandemic and are forecasted to recover in no time.

Where Mabrian’s report is concerned, Mexico stands out the most in North America for keeping its prices impressively stable.

In the last two years, aviation prices in the country have shown the least fluctuation. In contrast, Canada has the highest flight prices throughout the region.

United States is not far behind Canada in terms of flight prices, especially since the country recorded a significant rise in the last quarter of the previous year.

Meanwhile, Argentina has managed to raise aviation prices in a consistent manner over the last 24 months, in the region of South America.

In the current year, Argentina is believed to bring its prices back to 2021 levels. Additionally, Colombia has been maintaining relatively stable prices.

Various other countries, however, saw a rise in prices in 2022, as compared to the previous year. These include Chile, Brazil, and Peru.

While the prices in these countries have declined in 2023, they are still higher than the numbers recorded in 2021.
