About the City
Travnik is a city of peace, beauty, nature, and ancient buildings that leave you in the awe of the city. Before Sarajevo, Travnik served as the capital of the city for approximately 150 years. The city encompasses beautiful houses, buildings, traditional Bosnian streets and roads, and also the city of Bosnian Novel Prize winner. Ivo Andri, the only Literature Nobel prize Winner from Bosnia and Herzegovina lived in Travnik and still, you can visit his place as it has become a small museum of the furniture, his cradle, dishes, and other things used by him and his family.
What to See in Travnik?
Travnik has many beautiful places to visit and one can never be tired of the places Travnik has. In Travnik, you can visit Plave Vode. Place Vode is the place with fresh blue waters by which you can sit and have a cup of coffee. The place is really soothing and calming to visit.
Talking about the Islamic culture of Travnik, Sarena Dzamija Mosque aka Ornamnete Mosque is a famous tourist spot. The mosque was built in 1815 by Sulejman Pasha. It’s a beautiful compact mosque with beautiful minarets and a dome. The mosque represents the true Ottoman Empire culture and heritage.
Other than that, the city has mausoleums, mountains, and fortresses to visit. In the cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the fortresses are quite common. The most known fortress of the city is known by the name of Travnik Castel that sees you from the heights. To reach the fortress, you will need to climb the mountains. It will be a bit tedious task but definitely worthy and adventurous. The fortress was built hundreds of years ago but still, they are stored and kept with care as they present the history of the city and country. The city is also a house to beautiful marks with different statues inside, hundreds of years of mosques, Museums that narrate the history, artifacts, and much more.
Weather Of Travnik
The weather of Travnik is moderate and cool, don’t worry about the extremes of weather. However, in the months of June, July, and September the temperature remains pleasant. The coldest month is January whereas in the month of November the city has the most rain. You can plan your tip in accordance with the weather so that it doesn’t worry you.
How to Get There?
In case you want to travel domestically, then you will need to travel by road as there is no facility to travel by air. However, if you plan to visit Travnik internationally then you can reach Sarajevo and go to Travnik as it is only a distance of 1-hour drive from the capital of the country.
